Baolau is an information service for travelling in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand.

We assist in organizing your trip by providing schedules and fares for flights, trains, buses and ferries. Also we calculating the best transport routes between origin and destination, and facilitate ticket booking.

Baolau is a free information service and you don't need to register to use it, however we may collect a service fee when we process your reservation.

Whether you access from your computer or your mobile phone you can search transport information and book your tickets anytime, anywhere. If you decide to make a booking with us, we simply collect your personal details so the Transport Provider can issue the ticket.

All the information of flights, trains, buses and ferries is obtained directly from the Transport Providers. The data is constantly refreshed to offer you schedules and fares updated on real time.

We put our best effort in ensuring that all the information published is precise, but ultimately we cannot provide any warranty for its accuracy. Please note that search results may differ from the actual timetables and prices at the time of booking, and that we are not responsible for the performance of the transport providers, which may be susceptible to overbooking, delays or cancellation of service.

Online booking

We assist in ticket booking for flights, trains, buses and ferries. After searching your itinerary and selecting the most suitable transport option you can proceed directly with ticket booking.

Flights

We integrate ticket booking for domestic and international flights operated by Vietnam Airlines, Jetstar, VietJet Air, AirAsia and Nok Air.

At the end of the booking process you will receive the official tickets, which you can use to check-in at the airport. We support Online Payment and accept international credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and JCB.

You will be required to complete the payment before submitting your order. Your reservation will be processed and you will receive your e-ticket by email, ready to print or carry in your mobile phone or tablet and present at the check-in counter of the airport before boarding the plane.

For international routes passengers will be required to comply with immigration procedures and present their passports meeting visa requirements, otherwise boarding may be denied with no right to refund or delay the travel schedule.

Trains

We integrate ticket booking for trains operated by Vietnam Railways and private railway companies Victoria Express, Fanxipan Express, King Express, Orient Express, Sapaly Express, Chapa Express, Livitrans Express, Violette Train and Saigon Golden Train.

At the end of the booking process you will receive the official tickets, which you can use to board the train. We support Online Payment and accept international credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and JCB.

For bookings with Vietnam Railways and private railway companies Livitrans Express and Violette Train, you will be required to complete the payment before submitting your order. Your reservation will be processed and you will receive your e-ticket by email, ready to print or carry in your mobile phone or tablet and present when boarding the train.

For bookings with Royal Railway and private railway companies Victoria Express, Fanxipan Express, King Express, Orient Express, Sapaly Express, Chapa Express and Saigon Golden Train, you will be required to complete the payment before submitting your order. Your reservation will be processed and you will receive a voucher by email to collect the physical ticket at the station before boarding the train.

For bookings with the international railway service Hanoi-Nanning-Beijing, you will be required to complete the payment before submitting your order. Your reservation will be processed and you will receive a voucher by email to collect the physical ticket at the station before boarding the train.

Passengers will be required to comply with immigration procedures and present their passports with valid visas for Vietnam and China, otherwise boarding may be denied with no right to refund or delay the travel schedule.

- Passport

- Valid visa for Vietnam (except Vietnamese residents)

- Valid visa for China (except Chinese residents)

Passengers will board the train at Gia Lam station in Hanoi at 21:20 PM and arrive to Dong Dang at 01:55 AM, where they must get off and complete immigration exit procedures at Vietnam border. At 02:50 AM the train departs from Dong Dang in Vietnam and arrives at 04:31 AM to Pingxiang in China. At this point, the watch has to be adjusted as there is +1 hour difference with Vietnam. Once in Pingxiang, passengers must get off the train again and complete immigration entry procedures at Chinese border. After entering China passengers will board the train, which departs from Pingxiang at 06:20 AM and continues the journey to Nanning-Beijing.

Buses

We integrate ticket booking for buses operated by the companies Mai Linh, Vu Linh, ECO SAPA, Son Nguyen Limousine, Hoang Long, Hanh Cafe, The Sinh Tourist, Hoang Phu, Mekong Explore, Giant Ibis, Mekong Express, Thero Express, Sorya Transport, 27-7 and Asia Van Transfer.

At the end of the booking process you will receive the official tickets, which you can use to board the bus. We support Online Payment and accept international credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and JCB.

You will be required to complete the payment before submitting your order. Your reservation will be processed and you will receive your e-ticket by email, ready to print or carry in your mobile phone or tablet and present at the ticket counter of the station before boarding the bus.

We integrate ticket booking for ferries operated by the companies Cat Ba Island, VinaExpress, Mekong Explore and Island Speed Ferry Cambodia.

At the end of the booking process you will receive the official tickets, which you can use to board the ferry. We support Online Payment and accept international credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and JCB.

You will be required to complete the payment before submitting your order. Your reservation will be processed and you will receive your e-ticket by email, ready to print and present at the port before boarding the ferry.

For international routes passengers will be required to comply with immigration procedures and present their passports meeting visa requirements, otherwise boarding may be denied with no right to refund or delay the travel schedule.

For trains operated by Vietnam Railways ticket booking is available 60-90 days in advance, however fares will open first for the long journeys of the railway line and fares for short journeys begin locked and will open later, usually few weeks or few days before departure, depending on the occupancy rate and with no exact schedule.


FARE NOT YET OPEN

During the time that the sale period is not yet open or it is open but a particular fare is still locked, we will display the fare as "Not yet open".

In this case, we suggest that you check our site regularly and wait for the fare to open or else choose a different fare or a different route, if available.

For trains, if you have a tight schedule and need to travel on a specific train you may consider booking the whole end-to-end journey, which has all the fares always available, in order to secure your tickets as soon as possible. Once you collect the tickets, you can board or get off the train in any station of the railway line. When booking with us, this option does not incur a higher cost of the service fee.


FARE SOLD OUT

During the time that the sale period is open, if all the tickets for a particular fare have been sold already we will display it as "Sold out".

In this case, we suggest that you choose a different fare or a different route, if available.

For flights, buses and trains operated by Vietnam Railways, we accept reservations within 24 hours before departure.

For ferries and trains operated by Royal Railway, China Railways and private railway companies Fanxipan Express, King Express, Orient Express, Sapaly Express, Chapa Express, Livitrans Express, Violette Train and Victoria Express, we accept reservations up to 24 hours before departure.

After you submit your order we will be able to process your booking in 24 - 48 hours or, in case of urgent bookings, at least 2 hours before departure time.

In some cases for train bookings, the railway company may have not yet open the sale of a particular fare for partial journeys of the railway line, however for your convenience we will accept your order and put in ON HOLD. From that moment, we will frequently check the availability and try to confirm your booking as soon as the sale period starts. If you do not wish to wait during that time, please let us know and we will try to find an alternative for your itinerary.

If you have not received any communication from us in 24 hours after submitting your order or 2 hours before departure, please inspect the SPAM or Junk Mail folder of your mailbox or check the status of your booking by accessing to Manage your booking. We use OnePAY to process payments with international credit cards. This payment gateway implements security authentication controls Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode. For more information, please follow this link.


What is Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode?

Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode is a Visa / MasterCard program designed to provide online merchants the added security of having Issuing banks authenticate their individual cardholders and qualify their online transactions for fraud protection or chargeback.

If you have enrolled 3D-Secure Program for your card with your Issuing Bank, namely Verified by Visa for Visa or MasterCard SecureCode for MasterCard, you need to enter an online payment password to authorize the payment.

If our website displays the error "Cannot authenticated by 3D-Secure Program. Please contact Issuer Bank." it means that you failed the security authentication. You should confirm with your bank that your credit card has Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode activated and ensure that you have configured the password. Some banks implement fixed password set by the customer and some others send a random code via sms to the customer’s phone number for verification before processing the transaction.

Also, you should confirm that your credit card accepts payments in Vietnam Dong, VND, currency. The transaction may not be successful if the Issuer Bank has not updated the system of Verified by Visa for Visa or MasterCard SecureCode for MasterCard with the format of Vietnam currency.


Complete payment of pending transactions

Once you have enabled security authentication you can use the Booking Reference to Manage your booking and complete the booking process.

When retrieving your booking you will find it in status INCOMPLETE and instructions to complete the payment. We ask you to please try again. If the error persists, we would also ask you to confirm with your bank that your credit card does not restrict payments in foreign countries, including Vietnam. If so, you may need to authorize this option. Finally, you can try using a credit card from a different bank.

If you attempted with different cards and you are unable to complete the payment transaction please Include the error description returned by the payment gateway and your Booking Reference.

Train ticket booking

SEAT or BED?

Depending on the distance you may want to travel by Seat or Bed.

Currently our system does not allow users to pick the seats directly but you can choose the fare: Hard seat, Soft seat, Hard bed or Soft bed, and we will carefully select the best places for you and your travel company.

UPPER OR LOWER BED?

In case you choose to travel in Hard bed or Soft bed, by default we try to book Lower Berth for ease of access. If all Lower Berths are not available or sold-out, then we will book Upper Berth.

When you book for 1 or 2 passengers, if you have any preference regarding Upper or Lower Berth please indicate in the booking form. For 3 or more passengers there is no need to indicate preference, as we will distribute the passengers in Upper and Lower Berths in order to accommodate the whole group in the same compartment.


TRAVELLING IN GROUP

When booking for many passengers we will try to accommodate the entire group in adjacent seats or berths in the same compartment, according to the fare selected. If we cannot satisfy this condition, we will contact you before processing the booking.

Children can book train tickets in accordance with the following policy.

TRAVELLING WITH CHILDREN

For trains operated by Vietnam Railways,
− passengers under 6 years old do not need to buy ticket if they seat with their parents, or else benefit from 25% discount in all fares when they book a separate ticket. If you do not wish to take this passenger into account when making the booking, please select a smaller number of passengers.
− passengers from 6 to 9 years old need to buy ticket but benefit from 25% discount in all fares.
− passengers with 10 years old or over are not eligible for children discount, need to book as adults.

For trains operated by Victoria Express, Fanxipan Express, King Express, Orient Express, Sapaly Express, Chapa Express, Livitrans Express, Violette Train or Saigon Golden Train,
− passengers under 3 years old do not need to buy ticket if they seat with their parents. If you do not wish to take this passenger into account when making the booking, please select a smaller number of passengers.

Changes and Cancellations

(1) In case you booked directly through the website of the Passenger Carrier or the Booking Partner, any request for change must be done to these parties, not to Baolau as we did not process your booking and we do not hold any details of it.

Baolau and its representatives have no responsibility for any costs or expenses you may incur as a result of any change of the booking on the terms that you agree during the merchant transaction with the Passenger Carrier or the Booking Partner.

If you wish to cancel your booking at the railway station, please present the e-ticket along with your passport at the counter and claim your refund in cash. This option is available until 4 hours before departure, except in public holidays which is available 24 hours before departure.

Service fees will not be refunded. Cancellation fees will apply.

- For standard tickets, 5% per ticket
- For tickets on public holidays, 30% per ticket
- For promotion tickets issued 30-59 days before the departure date, 50% per ticket
- For promotion tickets issued 60 days before the departure date, cancellation not permitted

For Victoria Express:

- Free of charge if 15 days before departure
- 50% per ticket + 20,000 VND per booking if 8 to 15 days to departure
- No ticket refund if less than 8 days to departure

Make a booking

Following your search request, we will display the Results for your itinerary.



If you wish to Modify your search and change the origin, destination, travel date or number of passengers, 1 click on MODIFY button to open the form and make a new search.

If the itinerary is correct, the first step is to select the departing trip.

Take a look at the list of results connecting the origin with the destination. If you wish to filter the results by mean of transportation (flight, train, bus, ferry) then 2 check / uncheck the transportation boxes to display / hide the corresponding routes in the results.

To examine a result, 3 click on the down-arrow to expand the details of the route, including time of departure, time of arrival, duration of the journey, point of departure, point of arrival, transport carrier and vessel number.

Next to the route details you will find the available fares. You can 4 select the most suitable fare and 5 click on the information icon to display the fare rules. We recommend that you take a look to the terms of Change and Cancellation before you go ahead and book.



Once you chose the desired route for your departing trip and selected the fare, 6 click on the BOOK ONLINE button.

In case that your journey is round trip, the second step is to select the returning trip.

Please note that you can choose a different carrier or different mean of transportation for the departing and the returning trip, should it be more convenient for you.



Once you chose the desired route for your returning trip and selected the fare, click on the BOOK ONLINE button and continue to Passengers form.

After you chose the departing (and returning) trip, you must fill in the Passenger details.

Verify that the number of passengers is correct. Then, for each passenger enter the full name, first and middle name then last name, and the passport number.

If you are travelling with children, please check the box for Child / Infant and enter the date of birth of the passenger to apply for children discount on selected transport providers.



To proceed with the booking process you must fill in the Contact details.

Enter the full name of the person responsible for the booking, first and middle name then the last name. Next, enter the email address where you want to receive the tickets. Ensure that you input the correct email address. Finally, enter the phone number in case we need to contact you regarding your booking.



Once you filled in the Passenger details and Contact details you can CONTINUE to payment.

After you filled in the Passenger details, you must select your Payment method, which includes International card.

We accept international credit or debit Visa, MasterCard, American Express, JCB, Union Pay.



Next, you must read and accept the Terms and conditions of booking. When you are done, check the box and confirm that you have read and understand the terms.

The final step is to check carefully your itinerary and price breakdown. When you are done, check the box and confirm that the booking information is correct.



When ready, click on PROCEED TO PAYMENT button and you will be redirected to the payment gateway, where you can complete your payment transaction with International card.

Follow the instructions and enter your card details.



We use OnePAY to process payments with international credit cards. This payment gateway implements security authentication controls Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode. If you have enrolled 3D-Secure Program for your card with your Issuing Bank, you need to enter an online payment password to authorize the payment. Some banks implement fixed password set by the customer and some others send a random code via sms to the customer’s phone number for verification before processing the transaction.

After you filled in the Passenger details, you must select your Payment method, which includes ATM card.

We accept ATM card from most banks in Vietnam.



Next, you must read and accept the Terms and conditions of booking. When you are done, check the box and confirm that you have read and understand the terms.

The final step is to check carefully your itinery and price breakdown. When you are done, check the box and confirm that the booking information is correct.



When ready, click on PROCEED TO PAYMENT button and you will be redirected to the payment gateway, where you can complete your payment transaction with ATM card.

Select your bank, follow the instructions and enter your card details.
